Overwhelmed

Updated: Feb 28, 2024

The ocean whelms the ship at sea

Crafting holes at the bottom of everything

As water rises, the wood won’t follow

Sucked to the floor, completely swallowed

Shadowy figures form scary shapes

The depth of the ocean is a frightening place

The ocean starts to overwhelm me

I can’t shake the feeling I’m trapped by the sea

Crumbling and crippling, counting the hours

As much as I pray, still, the ocean devours

Her beauty still calls and I try to resist

But the ocean and I cannot coexist

I hang my head gently over the side

In hopes to convince her to turn the tide

I feel drawn down, I’ll hold my breath

Putting my soul and body to the test

I see the same shapes dead in the water

But I suppose it was I, who really sought her

It’s already too late, I’m lost at sea

The ocean has already overwhelmed me
